Who makes the best AED?
Survival rate may be linked to ease of use
An AED defibrillator is an essential piece of lifesaving equipment in just about any public place. Companies like Philips, Zoll, Defibtech, Cardia Science, and DMI are all well known manufacturers of AED units that can be seen in airports, stadiums, and other gathering places, but what is the best choice? Unfortunately, this site can't tell you because that might imply that a competing brand might not bring your loved one back to life in an emergency. All we can say is to use ones that have (or can refer) training programs, good battery life, easy to use prompts, and different sizes of paddles for Children and Adults. Any of these name brands would likely work in a pinch, but if you have a company and plan on buying some AEDs, be sure to find out what kind of training materials the manufacturer is offering, and if there are on-site training sessions for as many workers as possible, since you don't want to find out that the guy who knew how to use the AED is the one lying there unresponsive on the floor.
Notes and Special Information
Special note: Training on any kind of AED increases survivability rates. Make sure AED batteries are up to date.
